A monastery in Cotihana village of Cahul district caught fire in the morning of January 5. Press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Liliana Puscasu has told IPN that the flames damaged about 60% of the monastery, mainly its roof and things inside, IPN reports.
The fire affected 240 square meters of the church’s area. When on the spot, the firemen ascertained that the flames were spreading swiftly. The violation of the anti-fire rules when using the stove is the preliminary cause of fire.
