Moldovan woman infected with COVID-19 in Italy

A Moldovan woman who is in Italy tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration said the woman earlier came into contact with a person infected with COVID-19. In the case of another Moldovan woman, the results will be ready the next few days, IPN reports.

The second woman was also in contact with an infected Italian woman. The two women are in a good state of health and do not need to be hospitalized. They are under quarantine at home and the National Health Service of Italy offers them the necessary assistance. 

Moldova’s Embassy in Rome, together with the Consulate General in Milan and the Consulate in Padova, is constantly in touch with the competed Italian authorities.

The Ministry informs that the Moldovan citizens who face a difficult situation on the territory of Italy can ask for consular assistance on the emergency phone numbers – Moldova’s Embassy in Rome:+39 3294421091; Consulate General in Milan: +39 3206108989 and Consulate in Padova: +39 3805905331. Assistance can be also requested through the Ministry’s Call Center on 0 80 090990 (from Moldova) or +373 22 788722 (from abroad).

According to the latest information from Moldova’s Embassy in Tokyo, the three Moldovans, two of whom hold also Romanian nationality, who were members of the crew of the cruise ship Diamond Princess, were disembarked and transferred to a special unit close to Tokyo, in Wako of Saitama prefecture. Tests didn’t detect the coronavirus, but they will be in quarantine during the next 14 days in a campus.

The Embassy is permanently in contact with the three citizens. It announces that in emergencies, the Moldovans in Japan can contact it on +810 80 8850 7372.

According to the data presented by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control to the National Public Health Agency, 83,396 clinical and laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded between December 31, 2019 and February 28, 2020. There were logged 2,858 cases of death, 2,789 of which in China.

The authorities in Moldova issued a nationwide yellow alert over the risk of infection with the novel coronavirus.
