The Youth Choir “Elefteria” of Moldova won two bronze medals in the categories “Mixed Choir” and “Chamber Choir” at the 34th International Choral Competition of Sacred Music that is organized by the Choral Society “Armonia”. The contest involved 18 choirs from a number of European countries, from the U.S., Canada and Greece. The Choir “Elefteria” was created under the Society of Greek Culture “Elefteria” (Greek Diaspora) of the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.
In a press release, the manager of the choir says that the choir “Elefteria” was founded on October 1, 2013. During two year, the choir has successfully taken part in events staged by the Society of Greek Culture, which were dedicated to the religious and national holidays of Greece. The choir also took part in the concert dedicated to the enlarged meeting of the Coordinating Council of Periphery 5 of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad.
The repertoire of the Youth Choir “Elefteria” includes pieces of folk, religious and classical music in Greek and Romanian and in other languages. The choir is a faithful participant in ethnic and cultural festivals.
