“Moldovagaz” reacts to searches by Prosecutor General’s Office

The joint stock company “Moldovagaz” reacted to the searches carried out by the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) at the institution’s head office. In a press release published on its website, “Moldovagaz” says that it earlier provided all the documents asked by the PGO, IPN reports.

“We note that a month ago, most of the documents seized within the search had been presented in authenticated copies at the request of the same prosecutor,” it is said in the communique.

The company says prosecutors’ acts can be described as political pressure and an attempt to shift the whole responsibility for the created situation, as regards the natural gas tariffs, on the administration of “Moldovagaz”.

“Under the legislation, the prosecutor’s conclusions about the commission of money laundering, abuse of power and illegal entrepreneurial activities cannot be based on suppositions and are premature as the investigation goes on,” says the press release.

“Moldovagaz” noted that the investigation measures taken so far cannot be used as ground for the statements made by the prosecutor in a news conference.

On November 26, the police carried out searches at the head offices of SA “Moldovagaz”, “Chsinau-gaz” SRL and at the homes of decision makers of the two companies, including the president of “Moldovagaz” Alexandru Gusev.
