Moldova wins two medals at Kayak Canoe World Cup

The Moldovan athletes have won two medals at the Canoe Sprint World Cup in Hungary, IPN reports.

Sergei Tarnovschi returned as a big champion after being suspended for almost four years. The 23-year-old athlete won gold in the 1,000 meter race with the result of 3:51.33.

In 2016, Tarnovschi was penalized by the International Canoe Federation after he failed the dope test, several days after winning bronze at the Rio Olympics.

The Moldovan female athletes also distinguished themselves at the Canoe Sprint World Cup in Hungary. The Daniela Cociu - Maria Olărașu duo won silver in the 500 meter race with the result of 2:01.19. Victor Reneiski’s pupils were outstripped by the Ukrainian pair Liudmyla Luzan - Anastasia Chetverikova (1:58.81).
