Moldova, Canada to launch dialogue on trade agreement

The proposal to launch a dialogue for negotiating a bilateral free trade agreement was discussed by Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and his Canadian counterpart Stephen Harper over the phone. The discussions were held in the context of the signing of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement between Moldova and the EU, IPN has learned from the Government’s press service.

The heads of Government agreed to organize a business mission to identify investment and commercial possibilities. They also referred to the situation in the region, especially the importance of ensuring security and stability, and pleaded for identifying rapid solutions that would help ease the tension within the international mechanisms.

Stephen Harper congratulated Iurie Leanca on the abolition of the visa requirements for the Moldovans travelling to the EU from April 28 and on the planned signing of the Association Agreement, due to take place this summer.
