The Ministry of Youth and Sports has reacted to checkers grandmaster Ion Dosca's statements about his participation in the Veteran's World Championship that will take place between August 24 and September 5 in Bulgaria. According to the officials, Dosca's request was submitted 5 days ago and is still being processed, IPN reports.
“The Ministry of Youth and Sports has not yet announced a public position regarding Mr. Ion Dosca's participation in international competitions, which is why we deny the allegations regarding the impossibility of Mr. Dosca's participation in the Championship”, reads the official press release.
The grandmaster told IPN he hopes a lot to be able to participate in the tournament in Bulgaria. According to Dosca, this would be a perfect fit before the World Championship in Russia, but doesn't know if he'll be able to participate. It seems that the money alloted by the Ministry for the Checkers Federation has already been spent, but the champion hopes the authorities will solve this problem and he will be able to win new titles abroad.
Ion Dosca has recently been crowned national champion of Moldova, for the 17th time in his career. However, this was his first full score win, meaning that he had no defeats or draws, but won all the games.
