The Liberal Party (PL) will hold negotiations and will form a post-electoral coalition with the Democratic Party, Mihai Ghimpu, who was recently reelected as chairman of the PL, announced in the program “In depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
Speaking about the Liberal Democratic Party, Mihai Ghimpu didn’t exclude a post-electoral coalition with this party, but said that this will happen if the members of this party become honest. “I will not sit at the negotiating table with Filat. They either become honest or join the Communists,” he noted.
Though he said that they are ready to form an alliance with the Democratic Party, Mihai Ghimpu harshly criticized one of the leaders of this party Vlad Plahotniuc. “The country is managed by two oligarchs. But they are not Saints Peter and Paul to control everyone. It’s time for Plahotniuc and Filat to step aside and allow honest people to come,” he stated.
Asked about the withdrawal by Dorin Chirtoaca of his candidacy for the post of chairman of the Liberal Party, Mihai Ghimpu explained that the capital city for his nephew is more important than the party’s chairmanship and it would be hard for him to cope with two so important posts. In this connection, he expressed his confidence that they will achieve a good result in the parliamentary elections and, if the PL gets the post of Premier, this post will be occupied by Dorin Chirtoaca.
In a live telephone connection, Dorin Chirtoaca said he intends to run for one more term of mayor of Chisinau, but this decision will be yet influenced by the outcome of the November 30 legislative elections.
