Sergei Filipov vacated the post of mayor of Taraclia town following the food poisoning case at a local camp that involved about 30 children. He said he assumes full responsibility for this case, IPN reports.
“There were more difficult times, but it wasn’t worse. I thank the employees of the emergency medical assistance service, the Taraclia health center, the Taraclia food safety division, the chief doctor of the district hospital, the infectionist doctor, the medical personnel of the hospital and of the clinical laboratory for the swift measures taken and for their care for the children,” the mayor wrote in a posting on Facebook.
Sergei Filipov apologized to the parents, saying he is the father of three children and understands how these felt. “Forgive me, if you can,” he said.
A week ago, about 30 children aged between 7 and 14 who rested at a camp in the town were admitted to the Taraclia District Hospital with food poisoning symptoms. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection presented the conclusions of the investigation into this case, saying the infection was transmitted by food. It was determined that the summer camp was opened without a sanitary authorization and the personnel was employed without undergoing medical examinations.
