Marian Lupu will give his Order of Honor to his father

The leader of the Democratic Party, ex-Head of Parliament Marian Lupu will give his Order of the Republic to his father. He made this announcement in a news conference, being quoted by IPN.

“I dedicate and re-award this order to my father for two reasons. I exist owing to him and, at the age of 76, with teaching and scientific experience of over 50 years, he deserves it more than I,” stated Marian Lupu.

He also said that Nicolae Timofti asked him personally about the colleagues that contributed to the negotiation of the Association Agreement with the EU.

As to the annual leave payment and financial assistance awarded to MPs, of about 20,000 lei, Marian Lupu said he will give this money to several socially deprived families.

Last week, Marian Lupu and other MPs of the pro-European coalition, ministers and deputy ministers were conferred state awards by President Nicolae Timofti for decisive contribution to achieving the major foreign policy goal of Moldova, namely the political association and economic integration with the EU. A part of society had a negative reaction to such a decision.
