The man from Cantemir district, who is suspected of killing his three children, was placed under arrest and the prosecutors ask for a psychiatric assessment so as to see if he was competent when he committed the crime.
The prosecutor who is examining this case Adrian Procoava has told IPN that the court accepted the prosecution’s request to remand the man in custody for 30 days. “He was transferred from the remand prison of Cantemir to Penitentiary No. 5 of Cahul. Afterward, it was ordered that he be transferred to “Pruncul” Penitentiary because he needed further medical assistance and the given prison is specialized in the treatment of detainees and those arrested,” he stated.
Adrian Procoava also said that the suspect admitted his guilt without explaining something.
The crime was committed on the night of July 16. The police were alerted by the suspect himself. The children aged one, four and six had knife wounds in the neck, which caused their death. The man tried to kill himself, but was saved. It is alleged that the man was close to divorcing the children’s mother, who has worked in Chisinau for a period.
