A man aged 60 died in a traffic accident on Balcani St in Chisinau, not far from the trolleybus stop “Mesteacanul”, in the morning of May 8.

Petru Cravet, who is in charge of relations with the media at the National Emergency Medicine Center, has told IPN that the man’s wife, who was together with him, suffered serious injuries and was admitted to the intensive care section in a coma. The woman is 58.

Head of the press service of the Chisinau Police Division Adrian Jovmir said the man and the woman were jaywalking and were struck by a car driven by a 20-year-old man. It is yet to be established if the driver was speeding and if he was under the influence of alcohol.
