The agreement to form a majority alliance in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) was signed by 26 councilors in the evening of September 3, IPN reports. The signatories included 17 Liberal councilors, six representatives of the electoral bloc PPEM “Iurie Leanca”, two Liberal-Democratic councilors and a Democratic councilor.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said he is glad that a majority coalition was formed in the CMC as it will allow advancing things. “During eight years since I became mayor, we had a majority alliance in the CMC with which we could work for two years only. I’m convinced that we will achieve results and will be able to present them to the people with dignity. The agreement is a good document. It is a chance for Chisinau to continue its pro-European development. We want a clean and European city where the people would want to live,” he stated.
Oazu Nantoi, the representative of the bloc PPEM “Iurie Leanca”, noted that he banks on sincerity and responsibility. “There are the votes of the residents of Chisinau in our front. All the rest depends on the common sense of each of those who signed this accord,” he said.
