Locomotor disability allowances to rise by 100 lei

The allowances paid to persons with locomotor disabilities for partially covering the transport expenses will increase from 500 to 600 lei a year. The Government made relevant amendments to a number of decisions approved earlier.

More than 9,000 persons will benefit from this rise. A sum of 900,000 lei is needed annually to provide the given allowances.

Under the amendments, the children younger than 18 who have locomotor disabilities, but do not have a disability degree will be included in the category of those who benefit from free services from the National Prosthesis, Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Center.

According to the Center’s data, the parents of about 700 children with locomotor disabilities in 2012 submitted applications for receiving special aids, including orthopedic footwear.
