Lawyer Vitalie Taulean announced his intention to sue several mass-media institutions for broadcasting a press release of the Prosecutor General's Office, which showed him in a negative context and thus damaged his image, without consulting him. The lawyer will demand 5 million lei in reparations.
On Monday, December 8, Vitalie Taulean told a press conference at IPN that last week he had publicly announced that a forged prosecution for hooliganism was started against him, but the mass-media mostly ignored that press conference. Later however, several media outlets made stories out of the PGO press release, without presenting a second opinion. “Through the mass-media of Vladimir Plahotniuc I was denigrated in the most brutal and dirty way. As a result, I declare my intention to file a lawsuit in the national courts and demand moral and material reparations of millions of lei if the people who denigrated me aren't called to account”, said Vitalie Taulean.
The lawyer presented several stories published by various mass-media which, according to him, contain denigrating information. “Do you realize what moral and material damage was incurred to me as a lawyer by presenting me in the mass-media as a vandal? Do you think I'll now be able to provide legal assistance to my clients?”, asked the lawyer.
Vitalie Taulean rubbished the prosecutors' charges that he forced his way into the institution. He said that the doors there are locked and can be opened only with an access permit, issued by the police officer on duty at the entrance. He also demanded the PGO to present evidence that he violated public order and to show security footage from that day.
The PGO announced las week that lawyer Vitalie Taulean violated public order in the morning of October 17, on the premises of the PGO, by forcing the barrier and entering the PGO without a permit, where he insulted a prosecutor.
