Iurie Leanca: We'll do our best to convince science olympiad winners to return home

Authorities promise to do their best for science olympiad winners to return home and become professors, scientists and innovators. At the opening of the 3rd Conference of the Mathematics Society, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca expressed his confidence that the exchange of results and experience occasioned by this forum will provide a synergistic boost for the development of mathematics and IT science and for responding to new challenges.

The current edition of the conference is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Moldovan Academy of Sciences' Institute of Mathematics and IT science, IPN learned from a press release of the government. The Prime Minister said that in these five decades, the Institute asserted itself as one of the Academy's elite bodies, as proved by its 11 winners of the National and State Awards and the 19 winners of the State Award for Young Researchers.

“We'll do everything we can to make mathematics and IT attractive for our youth and for our students who win medals at international science olympiads to return from where they won them and become good professors, scientists and innovators in their home country”, said the official.

The 3rd Conference of the Mathematics Society of Moldova will last three days. It is organized by the Moldovan Mathematics Society and by the Academy of Sciences' Institute of Mathematics and IT science, which has 94 employees, including 18 doctor habilitates and 29 PhDs. The event gathered about 250 mathematicians from Moldova and renowned researchers from abroad.
