The Party of Socialists’ candidate for President Igor Dodon presented the third objective of his electoral program – the relationship with Russia and protection of Orthodoxy. In his speech, Igor Dodon said the relations with the Russian Federation are very important for the Republic of Moldova, while orthodoxy is the basis of the Moldovan statehood, IPN reports.
After the presidential elections, Igor Dodon will do his best for the Moldovan products to reach the Russian market. Another goal is to solve the problems faced by the Moldovan migrants in Russia. According to him, there are tens of thousands of Moldovan migrants who were deported from Russia and hundreds of thousands of Moldovans who cannot return home for fear they will be banned from going back to Russia.
“I will sign a bilateral agreement for all the social payments, the length of service of the persons who work in the Russian Federation to be taken into account when they return home, when they retire,” stated the Socialist leader.
Keeping of the Orthodox Church is another element of his electoral platform. “Our Orthodox faith is the foundations on which the Republic of Moldova is built. It is the basis of our statehood. That’s why, when the Church is attacked and our traditional values are profaned, they attack the statehood,” said the candidate.
If he is elected Head of State, Igor Dodon said he will take all the measured needed to annul the legislation that offers rights to the sexual minorities in the Republic of Moldova. He noted he is categorically against the introduction of sexual education in the school curriculum.
