Igor Dodon: Eurasian integration remains a position of party

The Party of Socialists’ candidate for President Igor Dodon promises that if he is elected Head of State, he will ensure good relations both with the Russian Federation and with Romania and the European Union and will immediately withdraw the nationality of the Republic of Moldova from Traian and Maria Basescu and will repeal the Law on the Equality of Chances. He made such statements in an electoral debate on PRO TV Chisinau channel that involved his opponent Maia Sandu, IPN reports.

“I will be everyone’s President. The Eurasian integration remains a position of the party. I will maintain good relations with Russia, the European Union and Romania. The citizens of the Republic of Moldova must not lose the right to travel visa-free in the European Union. We must keep good relations with the Russian Federation because it is a market for our products and because our citizens work there,” stated Igor Dodon.

The Socialist candidate also said that immediately after he is elected to the office of President, he will withdraw the Moldovan nationality that was recently granted to the ex-President of Romania Traian Basescu and his wife. “I studies how the Basescu couple obtained nationality. There were committed many procedural violations. Mister Traian Basescu, get ready as you will lose the nationality that you do not deserve after November 13,” stated the Socialist leader.

Igor Dodon accused his opponent Maia Sandu of being a product of the oligarchic regime and of being supported by Vladimir Plahotniuc. “If it’s not so, sign now this document to show that you are against Plahotniuc. The fact that you do not want to sign it shows that you are Plahotniuc’s person. Maia Sandu voted for Andrian Candu, who is a relative of Plahotniuc, to be elected Speaker of Parliament,” he stated.

Another accusation made against Maia Sandu is that she was supported by representatives of the sexual minorities. “Missis Sandu, tell us why the homosexuals and lesbians voted for you? Do you represent them?” he asked.

Igor Dodon also accused his opponent of supporting unionism. “Maia Sandu is a unionist. In this studio several months ago, she said that she would vote for if a referendum on the union with Romania was held,” he stated.
