In August and September, 15 schools in the districts of Cahul, Orhei, Rezina, Falesti and Ungheni will carry out several actions aimed at promoting health education for young people, IPN reports.
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Moldova says in a press release that 15 educational institutions will benefit from mini-grants issued in order to promote health education in the respective communities.
"Starting with 2018, a total of 37 settlements from these districts participate in the UNFPA Program to promote health education for young people, conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, NGO Partnerships for Every Child and PRO DIDACTICA Educational Center”, says the press release.
The activities involve community mobilization to promote health education for young people. The activities aim to support the campaign "Health education - my right, my choice", launched last year and continued in 2019.
A thematic debate club will be held in Frăsinești, Ungheni, and exhibitions of drawings, social theater, flash-mobs, painting of public spaces, etc. will be organized in the other 14 settlements.
"Health education" is an optional school subject and is taught to students in grades I-XII, based on request. During the 2018 - 2019 school year, more than 19 thousand adolescents applied to learn this discipline, which constitutes 10% of the total number of teens who need such information.
