A group of inhabitants of Chisinau and members of the Political Party (Our Party), which is headed by Renato Usatyi, gathered together at a trolleybus station located on Pushkin St to protest against the local public authorities’ decision to relocate it two meters downward. The people expressed their dissatisfaction with the fact that a tree was cut to make the relocation possible, IPN reports.
The protesters said the trolleybus station is situated right before a historical building that was sold by the authorities and the company that bought it asked relocating the station. “The economic entity said that at their request the Chisinau City Hall made an order to change the place of the station. Does the law allow relocating a station at anyone’s request?” asked protester Dorin Condorache.
“Anyone in this city can make any change they want if they have favorable and close relations with the municipal administration. I came to protest because there is no other way to stop the illegalities,” said Chisinau councilor on behalf of the “Our Party” Ilian Casu.
The head of the General Electric Transport and Communications Division, which was accused by the protesters of signing the relocation order without having legal reasons, was unavailable for comment.
For now the station hasn’t been relocated, but the new place was already prepared.
