Gagauz and Transnistrian officials discuss aspects of cooperation in education

The relevant authorities of the Autonomous Territorial Unit Gagauzia and the Transnistrian region intend to sign an agreement on the implementation of projects in the education sector. According to the press service of Gagauzia’s Executive Committee, the subject was discussed in a meeting of deputy governor of Gagauzia Nikolai Stoianov, head of the autonomous unit’s General Education Division Vera Balova and deputy head of the government of the self-claimed Transnistrian republic on social policy Natalia Nikiforova in Tiraspol on September 11.

The negotiators agreed to sign an agreement on the organization of scientific conferences for high school students, exchange of children for rest in summer camps and admission of Gagauz students to the Transnistrian universities.

Furthermore, they discussed the opening of an additional group at the Medical College in Bender for training Gagauz students on a contract basis.

Several years ago, the Education Division of Gagauzia and the education authorities of the breakaway Transnistrian region signed an agreement providing that the University of Tiraspol and the Medical College of Bender will annually allocate budget-funded places for Transnistrian young people.
