Four officers of the Soroca Police Inspectorate were arrested on suspicion that they asked US$3,000 from a local man for not holding him accountable for an alleged murder, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the National Anticorruption Center, the denouncer said the police officers threatened that a criminal case will be started against him over the murder of a homeless man even if this man died from poisoning and wasn’t killed.
The policemen will be investigated for passive corruption and face up to 10 years in jail.
The National Anticorruption Center so far this year arrested 12 police officers for involvement in different acts of corruption.
