Of the 134 primary and secondary education institutions of Chisinau, only 28 have filled all the places available in the first grade at the first stage that was finished last week. Daniela Salari, senior specialist of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport of Chisinau municipality, has told IPN that 2,148 places remained unfilled in 106 schools.
According to Daniela Salari, the occupancy rate is the same as last year. “The most popular schools no longer have places available in the first grade. I refer to such lyceums as “Mircea Eliade”, “Ion Creanga”, “Mihai Viteazul” and others. The supply at these schools is always too high,” stated Daniela Salari.
She also said that the places available at these schools were filled especially with children who live in the given school district. “At these institutions that filled all the places at the first stage, no one can file application at the second stage,” said Daniela Salari.
The senior specialist of the General Division of Education reminded that the schools with specialized classes at the first stage can accept children from other districts. The second stage to enroll the children who weren’t admitted at the first stage will take place during August 1-24. The final list of children enrolled in the first grade will be published on August 25.
