The Chisinau City Hall said the Festival of Ethnic Communities that was initially scheduled for September 20 will not take place, IPN reports.

The decision was taken in the meeting of the Coordination Council of Ethnic-Cultural Organizations of the Bureau for Interethnic Relations. The National Patrolling Inspectorate also recommended cancelling the festival owing to the protests mounted in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau.

Launched in 2000, the Festival of Ethnic Communities is traditionally held on third Sunday of September. The 15th event of the kind was to be held this year.
