Ex-Interior Minister Gheorghe Papuc is suspected of misappropriating from the Ministry's budget over 500,000 lei to pay the rent of one branch of the Communist Party and other 360,000 lei to maintain and repair a car used by the Communist parliamentary faction. Papuc was interrogated today as a suspect in this case at the Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Prosecutor General's Office initiated criminal proceedings in late February on suspicion that the former leadership of the Ministry misappropriated a total of 68 million lei. Six sets of proceedings were initiated, but at that time charges were not brought against anyone specifically.
