Eight kilograms of marijuana were confiscated in Cahul district, and two of the growers of the plant were detained. The sale of the seized quantity would have brought in an illegal profit of about three hundred thousand lei. Investigations of the actions of an organized criminal group, that planted hemp for sale on several land plots in Cahul district, were conducted in July-October 2019.

The law enforcement officers seized an illegally held 12 mm firearm, 68 cartridges of 12 mm calibre and 22 cartridges of 5.6 mm calibre, dried hemp plants ready for sale, several bags and sacks with marijuana, overall being seized about eight kilograms.

Therefore, law enforcement officers have detained two men aged 29 and 54, while other persons are to be subjected to investigative measures. If the guilt is proven in court, they risk a criminal sentence in the form of imprisonment for a term from 7 to 15 years, being deprived of the right to hold certain positions.

Two days ago, two people from Telenesti district were arrested, being suspected of growing and marketing marijuana. The law enforcement bodies seized about five kilos of shredded marijuana and over eight kilos of dried and unprocessed plant. According to the General Police Inspectorate, the value of drugs on the black market is about 500 thousand lei.
