Eduard Musuc continues to be under arrest
The Chisinau Court of Appeals rejected on Tuesday, October 3, the solicitation of Eduard Musuc, one of the leaders of the Social Democrat Party (PSDM), to cancel his preliminary arrest.
Ghenadii Tatar, one of Musuc’s lawyers told Info-Prim Neo that the defense presented as an argument for his request the decisions of the European Court for Human Rights (ECHR), including “Becciev vs Moldova” and “Sarban vs Moldova” cases, for which the Government had to pay thousands of euros for violating human rights, but the panel of judges considered these proofs ungrounded.
The Court’s judgment will be presented on October 4.
At the same time, Tatar mentioned that the defense will forward this decision to ECHR. At the same time, in a press release of PSDM is announced that Eduard Musuc went out on a hunger strike, claiming the reason that his right to legal defense is violated.
On September 28, 2006, the Court of Buiucani district issued a 10 day warrant for the arrest on the name of Eduard Musuc, at the request of the Center for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption. Eduard Musuc and his father, Ion Musuc are accused of taking illegally into property a building located on Alba Iulia 77, which belongs to JSC “Mold Itel”. Both Eduard Musuc and PSDM consider that these accusations were forged at the order of the communist government.
