Economy Ministry’s forecasts for 2014-2017

The Ministry of Economy projects that the GDP in 2014-2017 will rise by 4.5% an average, with structural improvements. Exports in the period will grow by 8.5% a year, while imports by 7.2%. The nominal average salary in the economy will increase by 31.5% to 5,525 lei in 2017, while labor productivity will be by 4.4% higher, IPN reports.

As to 2013, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said last year saw one of the most spectacular economic growths in the region. In the fist nine months of last year, the GDP grew by 8% on the corresponding period a year before.

“We hope that the GDP growth in 12 months will be about 8%. The results will become known in the middle of next month. It’s not only about the contribution of agriculture, which recovered after the drought sustained in 2012. Practically all the types of economic activity made progress,” said Valeriu Lazar.

He also said that the economic policies pursued over the last few years and some of the structural reforms under implementation created preconditions for an economic growth that had a certain impact on people’s lives. The real average salary last year rose by 2.5%, while the disposable incomes of the population – by 3.6%.
