Weightlifter Ecaterina Tretiacova placed 9th in the 71 kg weight category at the Thailand World Weightlifting Championship.

She was ranked 8th by lifting 94 kg in the snatch and placed 10th by lifting 114 kg in the clean and jerk. The 22-year-old sportswoman lifted a total of 208 kg.

Two other Moldovan weightlifters entered the competition. Daniel Lungu placed 11th out of 12 participants in the 55 kg category, by lifting 235 kg in total, while Marin Robu was ranked 17th out of 38 competitors, with a total of 319 kg. In Snatch, Marin Robu set a new European youth record at 73 kg by lifting 149 kg.

Tudor Ciobanu and Elena Cîlcic will also perform at the Thailand World Championship.
