Details about migration amnesty

The presidential administration of Moldova warns that there are two more weeks during which the persons whose period of stay in Russia expired can legalize their stay. After March 15, the Moldovans in Russia whose ban on entering Russia is lifted will be able to verify the status on services.fms.gov.ru. Details were presented by presidential advisers Andrei Neguta and Maxim Lebedinski in a news conference on March 7, IPN reports.

Maxim Lebedinscki said the about 250,000 Moldovans who are in Russia should go to the local subdivisions of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Main Directorate for Migration Affairs to have their stay in Russia extended by March 20. They must have a valid passport. A stamp will be applied on this and the migration certificate will be issued. It won’t be necessary to leave the Russian Federation. During seven days, the Moldovans are obliged to register their place of stay at the migration service and will be able to stay in Russia for at most 90 days. Those who want to work and, respectively, to stay longer in Russia can obtain the necessary documents within 30 days.

Maxim Lebedinski noted that the migration amnesty does not apply to the Moldovans who earlier violated the regime of stay in Russia and were expelled and deported as a result of a court decision as well as to persons who, being banned from entering Russia, did it through Belarus and to those who are in temporary detention centers for migrants and are waiting for a court decision.

As to the about 17,500 citizens who were banned from entering Russia and are in Moldova, the adviser said these will be able to enter Russia only after their data are processed by the Federal Security Service and are transmitted to the competent service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. This applies to persons who were banned from entering based on points 4 and 8 of Article 26 of the federal law No. 114. Thus, this category of people will be able to check if they have bans or not on services.fms.gov.ru as of March 15.

Andrei Neguta said that if the Moldovans in Russia encounter difficulties in the process of legalizing the stay in Russia can use the nonstop hot line of the Embassy of Moldova in Russia on +79299649079.
