Moldova intends to ratify the lending contract with the European Investment Bank (EIB) for the implementation of the Moldova Solid Waste Project. The report and co-reports to this effect were approved by the competent parliamentary commissions, IPN reports.
Under the document, Moldova is to get the first tranche of €25 million of the approved EIB loan of €100 million to improve the country’s municipal solid waste management services and to reduce the negative impacts of the outdated solid waste facilities on the environment and public health.
The EIB loan will help to implement the country’s 2013-2027 Waste Management Strategy, involving projects aimed at upgrading and developing solid waste management systems and facilities.
The total value of the Moldova Solid Waste Project is €200 million.
