The Communist parliamentary group put forward a new simple motion in Parliament, demanding dismissing Minister of Education Maia Sandu. Two weeks ago, they submitted a simple motion against Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean. The Parliament’s Standing Bureau will decide the date when this new motion will be debated within 14 days of its submission, IPN reports.
Communist MP Galina Blamos said the results of the main Baccalaureate session this year represent a ‘national disaster’. For the first time in Moldova’s history, the number of those who didn’t pass the exams reached 56%. “We consider that these results point to the failure of the policies pursued by the government in the education sector for which Minister Maia Sandu is responsible directly,” she stated.
The Communists said the youth support policies are also inappropriate. The only time the scholarships were raised during the last five years was in 2014, which is and electoral one. The number of budget-funded places in universities and vocational schools decreased, while the tuition fees are on the rise, as the dorm charges are. “The holding of this post by Minister Maia Sandu is inopportune and will seriously affect the education system,” said Galina Balmos.
On June 19, the Communist faction put forward a simple motion against Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean in connection with the worrisome crime situation in the country. The motion is to be examined on July 4.
