The 24th annual conference of the Association of European Election Officials (ACEEEO) will take place in Chisinau on September 10-11, IPN reports. The event will bring together international election officials and experts from over 40 countries.

The Central Election Commission said that besides the delegations of the Association’s member states, the event will involve representatives of prestigious international institutions such as the European Commission, the Venice Commission, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), and the Association of World Election Bodies (A – WEB).

The agenda of the conference includes two themes of interest for the specific activity of the election institutions and, implicitly, for democracy: “Equality of voters, equality of votes” and “Continuous electoral training”.

The ACEEEO is an independent regional organization of electoral management bodies with a legal standing based on international law. It brings together representatives of the European election authorities. The Central Election Commission of Moldova became a fully-fledged member of the Association in 1998. Since September 2013, it has formed part of the ACEEEO’s executive committee, while since 2014 has held its presidency.

The event includes an exhibition of suppliers of IT&C equipment in the electoral field.
