Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca requested not issuing authorizations for building annexes in the city from May 1. He instructed preparing a relevant order so that it is discussed in a meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council, IPN reports.
“You allow them to build annexes of 3 x 1 meters, but they erect annexes of 5 x 10 meters and then register the building as realty without land, damaging the block’s exterior,” the mayor said in the April 29 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials.
Deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu considers annexes should be permitted only to buildings that do not have balconies on the first floor because, when erected along the building, they create a positive architectural look. When the annexes are built individually, the works should be stopped.
Acting chief architect Radu Blaj said the prohibitions will worsen the situation. “If we ban the building of annexes today, we will have to fight the unauthorized constructions tomorrow,” he stated.
As many as 73 authorizations for erecting 59 annexes on the first floor and 14 annexes over other constructions were issued in 2012. This year there were issued 15 such authorizations.
