The children of kindergarten No. 160 situated in Posta Veche quarter have been infected with rotavirus, show the results of the laboratory analysis performed by the Chisinau Public Health Center. Thirteen children had symptoms, but only six of them were taken to the Municipal Infectious Diseases Children’s Hospital, IPN reports.

Rotavirus is a frequently met and very contagious virus that can cause gastroenteritis whose symptoms include diarrhea and vomiting, with dehydration danger. The virus is transmitted both by direct contact and by contaminated objects, food or water.

The inspections carried out after the infection of children revealed that the institution was overcrowded and the disinfection and hygiene regime wasn’t respected. For the identified violations, the persons holding responsible potions were penalized. The kindergarten was closed for a week, until December 4. It will be afterward decided when to reopen the institution.
