A serious accident happened last night on an important water pipe located near Cruzesti commune of Chisinau municipality. The administration of the public utility SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” assures the consumers are supplied with water as usual, IPN reports.

In the ordinary meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, the company’s director Constantin Becciev said it is an emergency because a water pipe with the diameter of 1,200 mm, by which water is supplied to the capital city, burst. The consumers weren’t affected because the second feed pipe was put into operation.

“There was damaged a pipe with the largest diameter by which we transport water from Vadul lui Voda to Chisinau. A big rupture occurred,” stated Constantin Becciev.

SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” press officer Elena Danu has told IPN that the steel water pipe is worn out. Excavation works are not being executed, while the causes of the accident will be established later.
