Shortly after requested by the Democratic MPd to pronounce on the constitutionality of the decisions adopted in Parliament, the Constitutional Court decided that the Parliament decision to name Zinaida Grecheanyi as Speaker is unconstitutional, as are the legislative acts adopted by the MPs on June 8, IPN reports.
“The legislative acts (laws, decisions) adopted by the members of Parliament of the Republic of Moldova of the tenth legislature on June 8, 2019 and later are ab initio unconstitutional,” runs the Court’s ruling.
The CC’s judgement is definitive, cannot be challenged, takes effect when it is passed and is published in the Official Gazette.
