Authors of exhibition on victims of communism complain of intimidation

The exhibition “They resisted, fought and defeated the Red Terror”, organized in the square of Stefan cel Mare monument, is being compromised. Ion Negrei, deputy chairman of Historians’ Association of Moldova, told Info-Prim Neo that a news portal altered and distorted the otherwise proper message of the exhibition. “They are publishing false information about the exposition. These lies are spread by antinational, pro-imperialistic forces. They started a campaign of denigration against the exhibition and its authors”, said Ion Negrei. He explained that the 25 posters contain over 90 photos and documents of that time, which show the Stalinist genocide of Romanians in Basarabia, in the 40s of the last century. The exposition is an initiative of the Association of Former Political Prisoners and Deportees, the Association “Memory of Victims of the Communist Totalitarian Regime”, the Historians’ Association of Moldova, the Democratic Forum of Romanians in Moldova and the Social History Institute. The organizers released a press statement, informing that the actions are meant to commemorate 62 years since the second wave of deportations, on July 6, 1949. Other manifestations of remembrance of the victims of the Soviet Communist regime will follow.
