The games of chance are a danger to the people who are dependent on them. That’s why their advertising should be regulated, considers the author of the bill to extend the ban on advertising for all categories of games of chance that was registered in Parliament. On the other hand, business entities operating in the field consider the provisions of the law proposed for public debates imply risks and this type of business cannot exist without publicity, IPN reports.

PAS MP Dumitru Alaiba, bill author, said the goal of the initiative is to protect the people from an addition. The bill does not ban gaming or lotteries. It regulates advertising of games of change. Moldova is one of the most liberal states in terms of advertising of games of chance and optimal solutions for everyone should be identified here. The bill bans adverts for games of chance, bets and lotteries in any form. In the current situation, the state’s revenues are secondary to the health of people.

Vadim Dermenji, director general of Moldova’s Lottery, said the initiative implies major financial risks for the state, including image-related ones. For example, a TV program is produced as a marketing element. The prize money for the program is formed of proceeds coming from the sale of lottery tickets and Moldova’s Lottery is obliged to distribute the gains as this is the money of gamers. If advertising is banned, the illegal websites can benefit from the situation, while the pressure on the lottery sector and sports bets can thwart the efforts to regulate the legal gaming sector.

Leonid Oleinicenco, president of the Moldovan Football Federation, said the lotteries and games of chance are based on a random stake and the result cannot be anticipated, while the sports best are based on an analysis and on knowledge in the field. The Federation is interested in the stimulation of private investments in sport. Regrettably, in the current economic situation in the country, the only private companies that invest in sports are the sports betting companies. There are problems related to the rigging of sports results. The attraction of more sports betting companies would enable the competition organizers to find out first-hand information.
