Apartment buildings will be inventoried and classified

The apartment buildings will be inventoried in order to determine their technical state. Afterward, they will be issued with ‘passports’. Relevant regulations were approved by the Government, IPN reports.

Under the regulations, the buildings will be classified into five categories, according to their technical state: good, satisfactory, unsatisfactory, antiquated and unusable. The document also stipulates the mandatory conditions regarding the aspect, volume and regime of performing works to assess the technical state and of issuing ‘passports’ to erected apartment buildings.

The new rules are obligatory for all the institutions, enterprises, private individuals and legal entities, regardless of the form of ownership or the sources of financing.

According to Minister of Construction and Regional Development Marcel Raducan, the inventorying is necessary as 134,000 apartment buildings were built in the period between 1945 and 1970, while another 160,000 – between 1971 and 1991 and only 50,000 – between 1991 and 2011.
