Americans residing in Moldova can cast their votes in the US presidential elections by mail. Among the first voters was US Ambassador to Moldova William Moser, who encouraged the American citizens to express their electoral option regardless of their location, Info-Prim Neo reports. After casting his vote at an impromptu polling station hosted by the American Resource Center in Chisinau, William Moser said that 28 years ago, when he had just begun his diplomatic service, it was very difficult for Americans abroad to vote. Presently, however, thanks to the new technologies this procedure became accessible. “I just downloaded the ballot and the form from the Internet, I printed them out, filled them in, and dropped them into this box”, said William Moser. The Ambassador stated that he expects that the next American President – regardless of who it will be – will further support the relations with Moldova. Consul Alice H. Easter stated that the Americans could vote during several hours on Friday, October 5, at the American Resource Center. The vote will be sent by diplomatic mail. Americans can vote until October 6 and bring the form to the embassy in order for it to be sent by diplomatic mail, or can mail it themselves. Presently, there are over 200 citizens of the United States of America in Moldova.
