Allowance for looking after persons with disabilities will be by 100 lei higher

The allowance for looking after persons with disabilities will be 100 lei higher in 2014. There will be hired 700 personal assistants. This year the allowance was 500 lei, up from 300 lei a year before, and there were employed 600 assistants, Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga said in a yearend news conformance, IPN reports.

The official said that the profession of personal assistant for children and adults with severe disabilities has been instituted this year. Next year this service will be extended. About 16,000 persons received such allowances in 2013.

The three community centers opened this year accommodate 30 children on a temporary basis. Within repatriation missions, 50 Moldovan children who remained without parental care were brought to Moldova.

Valentina Buliga said there was also instituted the post of community mediator who deals with the integration of Romanies into society. The number of vacancies registered at the National Employment Agency increased, while the number of persons out of work who found a job rose by 7% on last year.

The minister also said that in 2013, after the ordinary indexation of pensions, the persons with a monthly pension lower than 1,300 lei received 50 to 90 lei in financial support. 236,000 households benefited from cold-month allowances, while 58,000 households received social benefit.

Accord to Valentina Buliga, a priority next year is to modernize the nine residential institutions that lodge over 3,000 grownups and children.
