The managers of schools and kindergartens do not have the right to collect money from parents for the alimentation of children. Minister of Education Corina Fusu in a press briefing said the gratis alimentation of first-fourth graders and of the fifth-twelfth graders from the eastern districts of the country is in the care of the Ministry of Education and the local public authorities, IPN reports.

The minister said the financial norm for feeding a student is 7.45 lei and includes the breakfast only. If the parents what their children to also have lunch at the school canteen, they must cover the related costs that are determined by the local public authorities. The teachers or school managers cannot collect money for the purpose.

The financial norm in kindergartens, set for 2016, varies between 6 and 18.65 lei, depending on the kindergarten’s working program (4 hours, 12 hours). Of this sum, the state covers two thirds, while the parents cover one third. In this case too, neither the educators nor the assistants or managers have the right to collect money.

Corina Fusu said money is also illegally collected for groups with extended program, especially in the municipality of Chisinau. These groups can be organized only if the local public authorities identity the necessary funds. Staging meditation classes or private lessons in education institutions is not allowed.

According to the data collected by the Ministry of Education, including through social networking sites, the taxes levied by teachers for private lessons vary between 50 and 2,000 lei.
