The administration of Theater Eugene Ionesco accuses the Culture Ministry of inability to deal with revamping the theater's quarters offered by the Government. The first stage of works is due to end till later in September. However they have not even started, the theater director, Petru Vutcarau, told a news conference on Friday, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Culture Minister, Artur Cozma, who attended the conference, blamed “the financial problems of the entity previously managing the quarters.” “That company manipulated a number of financial-banking institutions. A commission was needed to clear out those matters. This has delayed the adoption of the final document certifying the transfer of the building to Theater Eugene Ionesco, and its reconstruction,” the minister said. According to Cozma, 12 million lei have been been allocated to revamp the quarters. The general entrepreneur got 3 million lei already. The theater administration is angry that the sum is twice less than necessary. “Those 12 million were allocated on the basis of task-book, not of a reconstruction project, and now, it turns out twice more money is needed,” Vutcarau said. The Culture Minister says he doesn't know when the reconstruction works will start or end. The quarters of the former entertainment center “Moscova” was given to the theater on la 29 May 2007, but a governmental decision certifying the donation was enacted only in January 2008.
