About 35% of the respondents of a poll conducted by Intellect Group think the October 30 presidential elections will be won by the Party of Socialists’ candidate Igor Dodon. 16% said the elections will be won by the Democratic Party’s candidate Marian Lupu, 8% by Maia Sandu, of the Party “Action and Solidarity”, while 6% by Andrei Nastase, of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”, who withdrew from the race for the presidency in favor of Maia Sandu. The data were presented in a news conference on October 19, IPN reports.
The poll shows 61.2% of those surveyed are absolutely sure that they will go to vote on October 30, 2016. 29.6% said they are almost sure they will go to cast their ballots, while 4.6% said they will not vote in the elections. Another 4.6% said they don’t yet know or didn’t answer the question. Asked who they prefer in the office of President – a man or a woman, 69.5% of those polled answered a man, 15.1% a woman, while 15.4 said they don’t know or didn’t give an answer.
Asked who they would vote for if presidential elections were held next Sunday, 31.4% of the respondents said they would vote for Igor Dodon, 14.8% for Maia Sandu, 13.9% for Marian Lupu, 9.3% for Andrei Nastase, 6.7% for Iurie Leanca, of the European People’s Party of Moldova, while 5.4% for Dumitru Chubashenko, of the Party “Our Party”. Less than 5% of those questioned would vote for other candidates. 4% said they would not vote, while 10.2% said they don’t know or didn’t answer.
The poll was carried out between October 10 and 16 and covered a sample of 910 persons. The margin of sampling error is 3%.
