29 youth projects to be financed within Grants Program 2017

A number of 29 projects intended for young people will benefit from grants within the Grants Program 2017 of the Ministry of Youth and Sport, which will allocate 5 million lei for the purpose.

“Be ready, the adventure begins!” is the slogan of the project presented by the National Scouts Association of Moldova. This focuses on social, ecological, personal development and community development activities within a mobile summer camp that will attract over 300 students aged between 13 and 17.

“It will be a mobile summer camp with tents pitched in the middle of nature, whose goal will be to develop the skills of children. The project will be implemented from April or May until the end of the year. Our trainers will be prepared by a number of stages. The biggest event that will involve the 300 children will take place on July 22-30. This will be staged in the Domneasca Forest, near Calinesti village,” executive director of the National Scouts Association Maria Yakubitski has told IPN.

Another winning project will be coordinated by the National Association of Young Managers. This will be aimed at developing the business capacities of young people from rural areas. “We will hold a contest to choose young people from rural areas who will apply with business ideas. Afterward, we will stage a summer school to train these in social entrepreneurship. At the end, we will select the best ideas and will support them financially and with training and mentoring,” the Association’s head Aurelia Braguta stated for IPN. The project will end with a business forum in November.

Carina Eni, senior consultant at the Youth Division of the Ministry of Youth and Sport, said the sum asked by each organization cannot exceed 350,000 lei. If the project costs more, the applicant can cover the difference by partnerships, at the expense of the organization or with other resources.

“We aim not to exceed the sum of 5 million lei. This is the total allocated amount. It is yet too early to say the exact sum as we are to hold negotiations with each winner. Many of them have costs that we cannot cover or that are higher than the limits stipulated in the regulations. Therefore, the amounts asked by them will decrease considerably” stated Carina Eni.

The contest for the Grants Program 2017 involved 61 applicants. The 29 selected projects were presented by organizations from nine regions: 20 from Chisinau, two from Cahul and by one from Ungheni, Balti, Orhei, Anenii Noi, Ialoveni, Sangerei, and Basarabeasca. The projects must be implemented during at most ten months this year.
