Twelve young people received awards in the 22nd Youth Prize Gala in the evening of November 12. Six young people were conferred trophies and by a money award of 12,000 lei. Another six young people were nominated in the special prizes category and won by 3,000 lei each. The event took place at “Eugene Ionesco” Theater in Chisinau, IPN reports.

The winners were selected at a contest held by the Ministry of Youth and Sport, which involved 38 contenders. In the opening of the Gala, Minister Octavian Bodisteanu said there are countries that are not rich in mineral resources, but have all the preconditions needed for developing. Moldova is among them. The young people from the country are those who develop a positive attitude towards the parents, brothers, nation and the motherland, contributing to laying the country’s European foundation.

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that the country can be developed only by a concerted effort so that it is accepted into the European family in the future.

The Youth Trophy in science was won by Radu Osipov. Dorin Prisacaru got the trophy in technology, while Natalia Tanasciuc and Olesea Garlea obtained the trophy for literature and art. Trophies for civic activism were handed over to Alexandru Popovici and Victoria Morozov. The holders of the special prizes are:  Irina Staver, Marcela Chistruga, and Anatol Grosu (literary and art category); Alexandru Cocemasov (science and technology), and Cristina Balan and Doru Grosu (civic activism).
