101 children from the Moldovan diaspora will get to know the country of their origin better by participating in the activities of a one-week summer camp, organized by the Bureau for Diaspora Relations (BRD) under the patronage of Prime Minister Iurie Leanca.
BRD head Victor Lutenco said the 101 participants in the DOR summer camp were selected based on a contest of projects where they were asked to propose plans for Moldova's development. The participants had to pay the travel costs and a 100 euro fee. “We also offered social stipends to children coming from vulnerable families. So, some of the children, by making their contributions, helped to support their peers”, said Victor Lutenco.
Besides traditional camp activities, the participants also attend courses offered by trainers from the Association for Creative Development. They will also have an opportunity to meet with the children's author Spiridon Vangheli and with Prime Minister Leanca.
In addition, the children will go on a trip to the cultural and folk complex Vatra, where they will attend traditional craft and cuisine workshops, and will take part in a city-quest in Chisinau on Independence Day on August 27.
The summer camp DOR is hosted by the Costesti tourist complex.
