Pavel Cebanu has resigned as president of the Moldovan Football Federation (FMF) through an announcement published on the Federation’s website.
Cebanu didn’t explain his reasons, but emphasized this wasn’t a spontaneous decision and that time has come for him to go.
“This isn’t a spontaneous decision, but one that I had made some time ago and which I intended to voice two years after the last (FMF) Congress in 2017. And those two years have passed. It isn’t an easy decision, but this is my personal decision and I wanted to communicate it to the public”, reads his statement.
Pavel Cebanu had uninterruptedly headed the FMF since February 1997. The governing body of the Moldovan football is to elect a replacement at an extraordinary Congress on May 22.
