The children who will go to the first grade this autumn will enjoy a new teaching approach that will not consist in staying in desks only. As from September 1, the first and second graders will be distributed new generations of textbooks. The primer will be in a new, interactive format. The parents who took part in the forum “Come with us in the first grade, dear parents and children!” that was organized by the General Division of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport of the Chisinau Municipal Council were informed about this, IPN reports.
Angela Kutasevich, secretary of state at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, said the students who will go to the first grade this year will benefit from new curriculum contents. A new teaching approach will be adopted as the new curriculum envisions interactive learning, learning by tasks, experiential and algorithmic learning and other forms of education.
Transdisciplinary activities based on a different type of learning will be staged in the first grades. The children will leave the school, will have museum, artistic and other types of education.
The new primer will have two sections – one for the first semester and another one for the second semester. This is not a simple book with pictures and texts. It is interactive and the child will fulfil the tasks right on it. The primer will be accompanied by a calligraphy notebook. The set that will consist of four parts will be provided free of charge. The students will also receive math, moral-spiritual and other kinds of books, all new.
“The challenges at school are very big as the generation of children who will go to the first grade this year will graduate in 2030. Do your realize how far into the future we and the teachers should look for the current children to be prepared for the expectations of the future? But we, those who ensure the education process, will overcome these challenges by a nice partnership between the school and the family,” stated Angela Kutasevich.
The forum “Come with us in the first grade, dear parents and children!” was at its first edition. The event brought together over 200 parents whose children will go to the first grade in autumn. Specialists told them about psychological features of the adjustment of children aged 6-7 to the school environment and what they and the future first grader should know. The teachers told parents about the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle and of extracurricular activities, about the correct division of the student’s time, etc.
